Ed Gillespie Accepts Three Additional Debates at UVA, JMU and George Mason

Senator Mark Warner has so far accepted only one debate to be held July 26 at the Greenbrier in West Virginia

Gillespie has accepted invitations to 8 total proposed debates throughout the Commonwealth.

LORTON – Ed Gillespie today announced that he has accepted invitations to three additional debates: A debate to be held at George Mason University; A debate to be held at the University of Virginia in October, hosted by the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy; and a debate to be held at James Madison University, hosted by Virginia21 and the JMU Student Government Association.

Speaking about the upcoming debates, Ed Gillespie said, “College students clearly see the damaging effects of the Obama-Warner economic policies as they are graduating with more debt on average than ever before and applying for jobs in a sluggish economy that has the lowest labor force participation rate in decades. Too many young people today are unemployed or underemployed. Debates throughout Virginia will give voters an opportunity to compare my economic growth agenda with Mark Warner’s record of voting for 7 trillion dollars in new debt and in support of President Obama’s job killing policies. I look forward to debates at these Virginia universities addressing issues on the minds of college students and recent graduates as they look to get a foothold on the first rung of the economic ladder, consider the mounting Federal debt and the cost-shifting coming their way under Obamacare, which Mark Warner helped pass.”

Gillespie had previously accepted invitations to participate in the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce debate; the Virginia Bar Association debate; “The People’s Debate” in Richmond Oct. 13, co-sponsored by the AARP and the League of Women Voters; a debate proposed by the Danville Register & Bee and a debate co-sponsored by the Loudoun County, Greater Reston, Prince William and Fredericksburg chambers of commerce.
